Professor Todd Blumenthal
Since I began advising The Style Shop in the fall of 2014, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all of the students in both the Merchandising Society and those focused on The Style Shop. I am amazed at, and celebrate, the professional and thoughtful execution the students exhibit in all key aspects of running a retail store.
Throughout my professional experience, I have focused on the special skills and competencies of merchandising, product development, retail, visual merchandising, marketing, leadership and the most importantly, brands and the consumer. I bring with me more than 30 years experience in the fashion industry working at such great brands as Victoria’s Secret, Nike, The Gap, Ralph Lauren and Aeropostale. I am very pleased and excited to share my knowledge and passion with my students at FIT, as well as in my role of advising The Style Shop.
I thank Professor Antee and Professor Werner for passing this jewel of a business into our care and I look forward to supporting the students in all future endeavors. I also look forward in my partnership with Professor Geib as we work toward achieving the same excellence as Professor Werner and Professor Antee achieved.
Professor Catherine Geib
Welcome students to Merchandise Society. My name is Professor Catherine Geib and I am your Club Advisor. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a full time Assistant Professor here on campus. I teach classes in Fashion Business Management to freshman, sophomores’, juniors and seniors. I love seeing you mature in your studies and work experience through the years and sometimes I am lucky enough to have you in multiple courses. I also coordinate the Day in Industry program in FBM so even if you are not one of my students I will work with you on this program as a junior. I have a Masters in Education with a concentration in on-line learning. I am very interested in the future and success of online learning and I currently teach two courses on-line.
My career background is as a Merchant for Macys. I started out on their training program and worked my way up to be a senior buyer and DMM for various categories in Women’s apparel. My specialties are Dresses and Swimwear but I also have private Label product experience, maternity and a sportswear background. I also managed stores in my earlier years so I understand the importance of working with the customer and merchandising a selling floor.
I make it my priority to keep in close contact with all the current retailers and enjoy helping my students connect to industry. By becoming a part of Merchandising Society you are taking the first step in connecting with other students and to the Fashion Industry. I look forward to working with all of you and feel free to come talk to me anytime during office hours in B320.
Professor Ann Cantrell
Hello! I am excited to be the newest member of the Merchandising Society's Faculty Advisor Team, as the Style Shop Digital Advisor. We launched the e-commerce site as an intranet site in Fall 2016 and it's been exciting to see the progress of the site ever since. You can get to the site while on campus through MY FIT/Announcement and Web Resources/ FIT Associated Stores and then the Style Shop is the first link there. I teach classes in the FBM Department and also have a shop in Brooklyn, Annie's Blue Ribbon General Store. I look forward to working with you all!
